It is an enormous privilege to welcome you to The British School, Rio de Janeiro and the Conference, “ICT for Teaching and Learning Creatively”. Given the range and quality of opportunities evident in the programme, I have no doubt that you will take away with you ideas and strategies that will bring fresh thinking to your own practice and to your schools.
The ultimate aim and focus of this conference is how we can help children learn more effectively and enjoyably, optimising the unique power and potential of ICT. I can think of no other more worthwhile human activity than this. I am also sure that you will develop new personal and professional relationships. Together, through our collaborative efforts as educators, this conference will bring us one step closer to achieving our goal of making this a better world.
Thank you all for supporting our communal effort and, in particular, my deepest gratitude goes to Peter Napthine. Without Peter’s vision, commitment and sheer hard work, this event would never have happened.
Here’s to a great conference full of learning, friendship, debate and exploration, all centred on the exhilarating medium of ICT!
