Title of Workshop:
Student Self-assessment System - can an on-line system really help with Assessment for Learning?

Key Objective(s):
1) To learn about how one such system developed, with students in the driving seat! 2) To explore the system that is currently in use in a secondary school 3) to hear from subject and ICT teachers who are using the system 4) to explore possibilities for using such a system in your school

Description: Assessment for learning (formative assessment) is about helping students identify their own progress and their next steps for learning. There are many strategies that teachers can employ to facilitate this. This workshop will take a look at a system that was developed as part of an action-research project and is in its 3rd cycle of revision and improvement. Students made the decisions in how the system worked and how it should be used. There will be time allowed for participants to use the system themselves to see its benefits - also time for discussion about how such a system could be used (or developed) in other schools.

Length: Double (2 hours) with practical ?hands-on? activity
