Dear participants,

Plans for the conference are going very well and so far we have class teachers, subject teachers, ICT teachers and coordinators and even senior management registered, from 17 international schools in 7 countries across the region.   This is the first newsletter to be sent to all registered participants to keep you up-to-date.

1. Optional Activities & other requirements – survey

You should have already received the on-line questionnaire about this. We would like to know which optional activities you intend on joining in, to help us make the plans.  This will not commit you to anything; it’s just to give us an idea of numbers.  Final decisions and payment for optional activities (where there is a cost) can be made at the conference itself.

2. Fee Payments

The deadline for fee payments is 15th October, for guaranteeing their places.  After that places will be guaranteed on a first-paid-first-served basis.

3. Workshop Preferences – extension to deadline for making preferences.

We have decided to extend the workshop preferences selection period to match the revised payment deadline date: 15th October. This will give new participants the time to make their selection and everybody the chance to edit theirs. Note that new workshops added this month are:

-  Wii dig Education

-  Experience with the Use of Wikis in Primary and Secondary School

-  Classroom organization/displays and ICT: good partners.

-  Audio in the Classroom: analogue to digital

-  Effective Communication: Using Educational Websites to Help Transition Between Primary and Secondary

If you wish to edit your selection, simply login in and go ‘My Workshop Preferences’ in the Workshops section.

4. Workshop Programme

We plan to have finalized the workshop programme by Friday 24th October, based on the participants’ selections.  We will then be in touch to let you know the final programme, the numbers of participants allocated to your workshops, and the workshops you have been allocated to.

5. Conference DVD

A DVD will be given to all participants at the end of the conference, with Workshop notes/presentations from all the workshops/keynote presentations.  So there will be no need for participants to make notes in the sessions and you will have all the information from the workshops you weren’t able to attend.

To Workshop leaders - please bear this in mind as you prepare for leading your workshops. We will be providing you a folder on the school network for you to use during the conference, and also there will be a folder in the DVD folder on the network for you to store the resources you wish to provide for participants. Please save your resources there by Friday lunchtime as from Friday afternoon onwards we will be burning the DVDs.  Alternatively you can send them to us (unless they are mega big files) at ict-conference@britishschool.g12.br and we will place them there for you.

We are excited about the response so far and about the prospects for the conference, and we are looking forward to seeing you at the conference very soon.
